introduction + question

Hi everybody!

Let me introduce myself to you. My name is Esther and DH, 4 Guinea Pigs and I live in The Netherlands. I only started scrapbooking 3 days ago, but I am afraid I already am addicted to it [LOL]. My first scrap project will be a wedding album, with the pictures of our wedding, Nov. 13, 2000. Already done

6 pages, but there is so much more to scrap.

Now about this question that I have. I see all these wonderful pics you put up on the internet. But how do you make these pics? Especially the 12"x12" pages. Do you take a picture with a digital camera and put that up, or do you somehow scan the pages? I ask this, because my wedding album has pages that are 12" x 12", so I don't really think that will *ever* fit my scanner [LOL].

Hi Ester and welcome here. Some people(like myself) take pictures of lo's with a digital camera other scra parts of a 12x12 page and then stitch them together using some kind of a computer program. I've never figured it out so I take pictures then go to webshots.com and set up an account-it's free and you can download your pictures and share them with whomever you choose! HTH! Barb:o)

I scan my 12x12 pages in pieces and then "stitch" them together using the panorama/photomerge feature of my PhotoShop software. There are a number of good photomerge softwares on the market that are quite good without being nearly as expensive as PhotoShop, and your local electronics store should be able to help you there. If you have a digital camera, you can also take photos and upload them to any one of several photo sharing sites. As Barb said, webshots.com is a good one.

If you would like some tips on how to photograph your pages, here is a link:

Welcome to the group Esther. Scrapbooking is very very addicting. You will really enjoy the group. Everyone is very helpful and great and kind. Fell free to ask any question. I take digital pictures just like barb and put them in webshots. I've never figured out the stitching thing.

Welcome to RCS Esther...I am sure that you will enjoy being a part of this group. Everyone is very helpful and willing to share their knowledge of scrapbooking and papercraft techniques. I scan and stitch my LO's using Arcsoft sortware....and it is really easy. It also gives me a clearer finish....since I am a shaky hands photographer LOL Most graphics software has the ability to photmerge/make panoramic shots even Infranview...which is free :o) You just need to play.....scan half...then turn the LO and scan the other half using something on the LO as your point of reference for joining the two pictures.

Hi Esther! I am going to Holland in 2 months, 3 weeks and 2 days (but who is counting? LOL) and am wondering if you could point me in the direction of some scrapbook stores so that I can buy what I need to do my holiday scrapbook? I'll be looking for windmills, tulips, anything with Holland on it, whether it's in letters, or pictures. Stickers, embellishments, papers. The works. Can you give me some store names and addresses so I can visit them?

And welcome to the newsgroup!

Welcome Esther! A friend of mine introduced me to scrapbooking, and after the first time we scrapped, and went shopping for supplies, I always told her that it is "her fault" that I am addicted!! LOL Have fun with all of us here, and you will learn things you never imagined!

Welcome Esther,

I'm from NYC and have been addicted to Scrapbooking forever. I've only done the "archival" scrapbooking way since 1996.

This group is helpful and supportive.

I take digital pictures of my layouts and then crop them using a product called Microsoft PictureIt. If I digitally scrapbook then I use Hallmark Scrapbook Studio CD-Rom.

Hi Esther,

I'm new here myself...and totally addicted to digital scrapbooking too. I fought a good fight with traditional scrapping, but the digital thing snuck up on me! I had to UPGRADE my hard drive to hold all my digital "kits"...good thing they don't take up REAL space!

I hope I'm not out of line, but when I read this thread I just HAD to tell you something regarding the 12x12 layouts and printing. Photoshop does have a fabulous "stitch" feature so you can use your regular scanner and just scan "both" sides of the page and merge them...but PRINTING them sucks because IF you can find a local printer that has a printer that size, they'll charge you an average of $4.00 PER scan (each side=2=$8.00) and THEN you'll have to pay at least $2.00 per side for full color copies and they RARELY have archival paper so it's either regular old white standard or you bring your own. So $12.00 just to have one double sided 12x12 page printed...PLUS the cost of archival paper and then it's off to find sheet protectors and binders etc. RIGHT?

Well, I work for a new company that allows you to simply design layouts in your regular 5x5, 8x8 or 12x12 formats in your photoshop or digital imaging programs and then just UPLOAD them into your account template and then we publish them for you in beautiful hard bound books! Heavy weight, high gloss, archival paper in acid free books both glued AND sewn stitching ensure durability for years even with every day use! Our 12x12 comes with 20 pages, but you can add up to 48 just two pages at a time, and the price is LESS than HALF the price listed above and you get a real BOOK when it's done!

You can make one copy or two or more, and you have a FULL YEAR to work on your book a page or two at a time!

NO program to download, all you need is internet access to work on your pages from anywhere! A lifetime account is only a one time fee of $19.95 (yes...LIFETIME) but I can waive that fee with the purchase of your first book. You can even work on the same book between two customers, which is great for Mother's Day or "Baby" when you and a sibling or friend want to do one together!

Anyway, I was here to find great tips to help ME out and not be a blatant advertiser...but I just had to let you know that us digi scrappers now have a FABULOUS option and can actually PRINT our digital layouts for gifts, copies for others, and have people go "OH MY WORD!!! HOW did you do that?"

My site is

Oh the possibilities!!!!!!! I just went through your website. I love the brag book, and the heritage one. They are all really nice. The grandchildren are always wanting to go through the albums here. Doing one of these for them to look at would really save the constant use of my albums. Not that I don't mind them looking occasionally. Sandy

I know...I don't think I slept for two weeks after I saw the books. I would sit up in the middle of the night and go "OHHHHHH and I can make Dani (my high school senior...sniff) a graduation one....and one about my father's naval career (he passed away and my youngest ones don't even know him) and my neighbor is moving and we'll make one to take with them.........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA". I finally crashed and burned. But I have a 4 year old boy and a 2 year old girl that I made brags for and they take them EVERYWHERE!!! In fact, I tried to smuggle one out of the house the other day in my purse and my little Hannah saw it and went BALLISTIC!!! "Haaaannaaaaa BOOOOOOOOOK". SHEESH.

So now I spend my days trying to get my housework done REALLY fast so I can get out my laptop!!!!!! Large family....for SALE...CHEAP!!!!

Welcome to RCS Esther! I scan my 12 x 12 LO's on my regular scanner/printer and stitch them together with software. There's big scanners out there for

12" pages, but I have neither the space or money for one. So the stitching works for me.

Hi Esther

Sorry for being a bit late on this! Very welcome to the group! I'm Judy from South Africa. You can take pics of your 12x12 with the digi cam or you can scan your 12x12 and use a digital stitching programme. You have to scan a part of the page and then the second part. It's a bit of a schlep, but I prefer the results. Good Luck!

O ja - ek weet nie of jy hierdie goed sal kan verstaan nie, maar ek is eintlik Afrikaans! Gaan jou goed Esther! Ek hoop om jou gereeld hier te sien :)
