IT Offshoring Follow-up

A while ago Myra I believe posted a message about IT offshoring. This is about ppl in the US being unemployed or about to be b/c of companies sending their jobs overseas. I have several friends who about 4 to 5 years ago had great jobs and were making lots of money. Back then it all seemed very secure and like it was going to prosper. Now those same friends are travelling all over the country hunting for contracts (as in NO benefits) that last a month or two if lucky. Needless to say, this forces them to leave their families behind while they take any work they can & live out of hotel rooms. Sorry for the sad picture, but this angers me. I can't undestand how ppl so talented have to be taking (almost begging for) jobs they are more than overqualified for.

On that note, I sent the letter to my congressman as Myra posted the link. You can still send yours at:

Thank you Angie for writing your letter and for anyone else who sent one. I really believe this is a major issue that we need to address and get our country behind. It maybe the IT employees now but it will be other groups as well if we don't stop it.

Thanks again for your support, Myra

You are very welcome Myra. This really *is* a big deal. I'm going back to school in the Spring to guess what major? Yeah Computer Science!!! With all of these things happening I have been rethingking my whole career choice and even my future. I don't want to spend time & money in tuition & books just to graduate and find out I can't get a decent hjob in my field. ***rrrrrgghhhh*** This isn't fair! Anyway, let's do what we can to try to stop this, right? =) Angie Angie Fabulous in TX
