Newbee Question Alert

Hi.

I've looked at everyones Circle Journals and think they are great but want to know what the heck they are.

Any help would be appreciated as I think I might tackle one just as soon as I finish my sister's baby book. (she had early labor pains -- Braxton kind.)

Hi Kate a circle journal is a book/album that someone starts and then sends off to a list of people who have agreed to do a layout in it. The owner picks a topic for their book and then sends it to the first person who does their layout and then sends it on to the second. Unfortunately they take a great deal of time to get around as they seem to stay stuck from time to time.

Another way of getting pages from different people is to do a page exchange where the owner picks a topic for their page, and different people do a page or two for that persons book. Sometimes they want something back, like a page for their own book and sometimes they don't. In that case I always suggest 8.5 x 11 as they fit very nicely in priority envelopes or other envelopes for the trip. 12 x 12 is pretty difficult to pack and ship.

For example I did a page exchange called "All About You" where people sent me pages that told me about themselves, their birthdays, their families, their hobbies and their achievements. I haven't posted a request for pages recently as I've been pretty busy and am still just a tad behind in sending things back to people, but I do intend on doing this again when I have time.

Kate, What I am enjoying the most about the CJ's is getting to see everyone's work! Even though people generously share, one cannot appreciate the workmanship and artistry that goes into each page until you see it "in person". These are all such talented and creative scrappers that it is such a pleasure to share. It also inspires me to see all the clever ideas. I also feel that I do a better job, knowing it will be in someone else's book. I am looking forward to mine coming "home" so I can treasure something personal from all of the folks who have become my friends thru the years.

Hi Teresa,

She's fine. I had her put the telephone to her belly and told my niece "stay in there, we'll play soon but not to soon. kick your mommy if you agree." My sister lifted the phone and then said Ouch. Sarah Grace kicked her mommy for her Auntie. :-)
