OT: Polaroid photo repair help

I was wondering if anyone has an idea if the photos in this album could be fixed.

They are very early polaroids of DH, DS1 and myself that I would love to be able to use them. All ideas welcome :o)

Do you have any photo type programs like Photoshop? Or a digital scrapbook program? I've seen people really clean up scanned photos of ones like yours and really clean them up. Most recently I saw a Creative Memories program used to clean up some photos really nicely. I haven't worked with any of them myself, but really got me to thinking "I could do that." They seems easy to use.

Lynne... I have cleaned up many photos...even my Kodak Instants if you remember. These however....have such a lot missing and are just so dark. I would love to be able to retrieve them if I could. I use Paint Shop Pro and have downloaded The Gimp (like PS) but I need to mess some with it to see what I can do. Just thought that someone out there may have an easy solution for me :o)

The new CM gal I met was showing me how she took a very dark photo (I couldn't see that anything was in it) and playing with the light and contrast feature of these programs she brought out what was in the photo. Albeit not great, but it was the only photo of her sister at the wedding opening "her" gift. You could clearly see everyone in the photo and the reactions on their faces as they saw the very thoughtful gift and it was still good to use in a photo album. Your photos are in better shape. Play with a copy of the photo so any mistakes you don't have to save. Using the clone tool would help with scratch and placing missing color. I have a program called Photo Studio 2.0... I got it off the internet and I don't even remember where I got it... Ronnie I think. It's very easy to use. Wish I had a easy fix, but it is a fun one once you start playing. :)

Hahaha... I think you may have got the Photo Studio 2.0 from me....I sent a link through to the group early on after joining. I think the topic was about stitching LO and Photo Studion makes it very easy. I have not actually tried it for photo repair but I will have a look :o) Thanks for your input on my photos! Marilyn

I don't know anything about paint shop pro, but Photoshop has a photo correction filter built into it that does a great job of fixing the levels on old photos so you can see the details without your having to mess with them manually... I largely restored a photo of my father's parents using the cloning brush, the 'healing' brush, and the lights and shadows filter (I haven't quite finished, I got tired of filling in all the crease marks!)
