Overlocker repair

hello,

I have a Singer overlocker which needs a new left looper. This looper was hitting the side of the needle as it swung in towards the centre and ended up breaking. I have ordered the looper and am able to fit it no worries but am not sure of where its exact position should be in relation to the needle. I am able to slide it forwards or backwards on its arm before fixing it into position with the set screw. This will adjust its distance from the back of the needle as it swings past but I have been told that this is a job for an expert. However I live in a country town and an expert repair centre is about 1000 miles away. Is there a method used to adjust this loopers exact position that i could do myself without having to pay a fortune to send it away?

Thanks in advance,

Trueman
