OT: Safety Recall from Hobby Lobby

Just got this in an e-mail:

Important Safety Notice

December 2006

Dear Hobby Lobby Customer:

On behalf of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., I want to assure you that product safety is our highest priority. For that reason, I wanted to let you know that we recently learned about a problem with approximately 2.3 million Christmas lights that were sold at our stores from June 2006 through December 9, 2006. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Hobby Lobby is voluntarily recalling these Christmas light sets manufactured in China and sold under the Hobby Lobby brand.

The lights have undersized wires which can separate from the plugs and/or the light sockets, posing an electric shock and fire hazard to consumers. CPSC has received one report of a minor shock when a consumer touched a light string. Hobby Lobby has received one report of melting wires.

The recall includes all Hobby Lobby brand 100 Count Indoor/Outdoor Super Bright Mini Light Sets (all colors); 50 Count Classic Colors Indoor Super Bright Mini Light Sets (all colors); 150 Count Indoor/Outdoor Ribbon Style Net Light Sets (all colors); 100 Count Outdoor/Indoor Miniature Trunk Net Lights Sets (all colors) and 300 Count Indoor/Outdoor Hang-Straight Icicle Light Sets (all colors). The lights were sold at Hobby Lobby Stores nationwide from June 2006 through December 9, 2006 for about $2.00 to $10.00. A complete description of the Christmas lights being recalled appears below.

For your safety, if you have any of the recalled Christmas lights please stop using them immediately and return them to the nearest Hobby Lobby store for a Hobby Lobby Exchange Card.

All of us at Hobby Lobby want to thank you for your continued support and loyalty, and we apologize for any inconvenience resulting from our recall. The safety of our customers is our overriding concern. It is your trust in Hobby Lobby that has made our company the success it is today. We look forward to building on that trust now and in the future.
