Even the best photo printers are not the same quality as a professionally processed photo. Test with water and you'll see what I mean. The printed one will run but the processed one will not. Water will leave a stain on a processed photo if left on too long, and it will make the surface sticky, but it will not run.

Most photo printer blurbs claim photos will last at least 25 years. I suppose this is in theory only, since I don't think any of these inks have been around that long!
