Using Lazertran on wood

Has anyone tried using Lazertran to transfer images from the printer onto bowls or platters? I have messed up a few (expensive) sheets trying and wondered if anyone has had success with this so that the back of the decal is invisible and the image transferred enhances the turning rather than making it look a mess.

Is there another product that enables you to print an image on your inkjet printer and then transfer it to such as bowls or platters? I have a platter to turn which needs an Association image on and I am struggling at the moment.

Any advice would be welcome

Regards

Paul

No special paper required any print from a copier or laser printer. Apply the print to the wood rub the back of the paper with a colorless marker (xylene I think) from art supply store this is a Binh Pho tip.

Hello Paul,

I have not used Lasertran, but this may help you... Images printed on standard papers with Laser or Photo copiers can be easily heat transferred to the surface of your turning using a wood burner like the Razortip system and their transfer tool. The transfer tool looks like a tiny iron, which is run across the non printed side of the paper (image on the reverse) thus reheating the toner and re-depositing it on the surface. Works like a charm!

If you prefer, you can then burn the image in the wood, or seal it and not burn it, simply leaving the transferred image on the surface. This transfer system will not work with inkjet, or similar spray type printers as it requires a thermal bonded toner, like a laser or photo copier. If you're interested, you can see the Razortip system at
