Using bleach on a page

Have any of you ever used or read about the technique of using bleach on cardstock with stamps and other stuff? The book club (Pinecone Press) I belong to through the local scrapbook store this month is called "Outside The Box." They say when the chemicals are done reacting - within 10 minutes it is completely safe. They show using plastic wrap to dap 100% bleach onto background cardstock; brush painting bleach inside a stencil for letters; stampin with the bleach; and even using bleach and bubble solution to create a popped bubble effect. The writing with a bleach pen is a kind of neat effect. I'm going to give a it a try, but am still worried about using the pages in special books. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I saw the same book at work today. There have also been articles in Creating Keepsakes and Making Memories magazine. I did try it on some scrap cardstock, but didn't really like the way it turned out, but I think that was because of the cardstock I used. The bleached out color wasn't very pretty.

There were some other pretty neat techniques in that book too.
