Thank you for scrapbook supply shopping advice...

Hello everyone,

I first posted here in April this year, asking about scrapbook shopping advice. I live in the UK but my husband was stopping over in LA for a day recently and wanted to go scrapbook supply shopping for me. Thank you everyone for all the advice - it was greatly appreciated and helped us to plan the trip. It was very successful!

I would especially like to thank Angie for advice on scrapbooking shops in the Torrance area. It was very useful and absolutely perfect - my husband planned his one day in such a way that he managed to go to all of the local shops!

He went to Jo-Ann's, Michaels and two local stores. Jo-Ann's just had a sale on all of their embellishments, albums, a lot of papers and punches. I made him a long shopping list (taken from the shops' websites) with the pictures of the kind of things I would like, and the prices. My husband was acting on strict instructions from me: "If in doubt, DON'T leave it in the shop!" Well, he fulfilled these instructions to a T and came back with A LOT more than I expected! We joked that it was lucky he was allowed two pieces of hold luggage! Luckily, he knows my scrapbooking style quite well and chose good things for me. Best of all, it all was only a fraction of the UK cost, some things, because they were on sale, were a fifth or less of their UK prices!

He brought back a lot of alphabets, papers, albums, foam and magnetic stamps, US magazines, all kinds of embellishments, value packs of brads & eyelets, some Quickutz dies... I feel like a kid at Christmas... but now I have a "hard" task ahead of me: I have to spend a lot time "looking" at these things to "familiarise" myself with my new stash... so that I know what I have and can find "that perfect little embellishment" fast!

And now... it turns out my father is going to the US soon too! He is going lecturing at universities in Houston and Boulder, Colorado, for 2 weeks and offered to go shopping for me too... How can I refuse an offer like that???

See there Klara and OTHERS, us'n men can see things too in a subjective way or do pay attention (albeit very indiscreetly - LOL!) as to what YA'LL as women are doing!!

I really laughed out loud at your "instructions!!" Too funny and it sounds like me, if in doubt - BUY IT!!

There is/was only one lss in Boulder that I stopped at two years ago. It was really nice and kinda a pain to find. Houston has several including a Archivers. Ask amanda and Tammy about them down there. However the Houston area is HUGE and getting around may be a problem or challenge if he does not have much time. It is like the 3rd largest metro area in the US.

Well have fun with all your nw found treasures and share some of the treasures you make!! WE LIKE TO LOOK and scraplift!!

BTW, last Christmas I sent Marilyn there in Scotland a huge box of different packs that blew her mind. She was so stunned at the selection and all. She had sent me a GREAT pack of English made paper for my "collection" so I rewarded her twofold. I sure wish she would come back!!

Klara,

If you still don't have my email, please let me know- my computer says sent, but they're going to limbo somewhere.

Sounds like your DH did a wonderful job. JoAnn's is my favorite of the big stores, because they have the greatest variety, and they have their own line of scrapbook stuff. Michael's has some stuff that no one else carries. I'm planning a trip to Archiver's (a roughly two hour drive) in the next week or so. I've never been there, and I've heard they're wonderful. I can't wait to see for myself. Enjoy your new stash!
