Way OT: Job Searching

Hi Guys,

I need to get back into the work force but as a former secretary with

20+ years of experience I'm burned out in that field.

Any suggestions how I can "google" a job search on "monster" "hot jobs" etc for Scrapbooking. I'm lookiing under Graphic Designer but I also want to cross reference my job skills as well.

I'd go to my LSS but there really aren't any near me. One just opened in Whitestone & Bayside but they aren't hiring any one right now.

So any info would be helpful. Hugs, Kate

No suggestions for searching on Monster, but here's an idea that worked for me 20 years ago. I was looking for a part-time job to finance my move west. I really enjoyed a particular book/gift store. They weren't hiring at the time, but I "hung around alot" & helped out when I could. So, when she decided she needed someone to cover a weekend day, I was the first person she thought of. Also, looks good to have relevant experience on your resume, even if it's volunteer, not paid. Might just give you the edge over someone with no LSS experience.

Kate, don't know if you want an income or just "to keep busy", but if it's the latter, if you like working with kids, how bout volunteering at a nursery/play school an art lesson once or twice a week in paper crafting? Would also be a great reference later on your CV if you are looking for something more chanllenging.

Good luck on the job search Kate. I know how you feel about needing a change. I did the same thing. I was a secretary for 20+ years too and started working at one of my lss last October. It is lots of fun, but the pay isn't much. Just about enough to keep me in scrapping supplies!

The Michaels near me is always looking for a scrapbooking teacher. Maybe you could teach a craft at Michael or at your community center.
