What type of Book?

Hi Everyone,

I am just getting started with scrapbooking and am undecided about what type of scrapbook I should purchase.

Post mounted strap hinged loose leaf binder Spiral bound

12x12 seems to be the most common size so I will probaly choose that size.

All come acid free.. etc.

Any input would be appriciated.

Have a nice day Bill O

I personally use post bound. I have a couple sprial bound, but don't like them as much as the post bound. The 3 ring type albums work well, too. Both the post bound and 3 ring make it easy to switch layouts around if you have to. I like scrapping in 12 x 12, but there's times where a smaller size is easier. LOL

I agree with Deb on this one. I usually use the 12X12 Post bound. I have one in progress tht is a 3 ring binder. As Deb said this allows for arranging the pages as needed/desired. I have never used the hinge strap books, but I would think they would accommodate rearangement well too. Just my 2 cents. HTH

I don't like the post bound albums. I use strap bound albums.

I'm with you on that one, Linda. I started with strap bound CM books where you had to glue things down to the actual pages. I found it very difficult to move things around not to mention when you wanted to change a single page layout to a double page one you often just couldn't. I remember how frustrated when I discovered in trying to do a travel book that I had forgotten a trip. There was virtually no way to add it exactly where it belonged. I had to put it after the first page and before the second page of the trip that I took after that one. I guess it doesn't matter if you're all caught up and are scrapping chronologically, but it makes it difficult when you are working to catch up the backlog and miss an event.

For the above reasons, I'm a big fan of post bound, but find myself also liking 3-ring while I'm working on a different layouts that will likely end up in different books.

I started with post bound 12x12 then I found a 3 ring at Wal-Mart. I bought

2! I need to start using the 2nd one cos the first one is full! I'm also doing an 8x8 album. I found sometimes it's much easier to use the smaller one because there's not so much dead space. But it's only a 'abc of me' album. :) it's not quite done yet.
