An interesting pattern

While I was putting the first cup of coffee in my sleepy self, I saw a pattern sale at Vogue. For years, garment patterns for grownups have struck me as dismal but here's one that looks just like pure fun.

yet, it's not something that will be mass-marketed, for sure. I notice that the notions required calls for Steam-A-Seam. Wonder what that's about? Polly

That looks like it would be fun to make. When you finish it Polly give us a few pictures. You are going to make it aren't you?? she said with a grin. Because I'm not taking any challenges right now.... Juno

IIRC, it's to hold the pattern pieces in place for topstitching. It's been a while since i looked at the pattern, but I think this is one where the panels are overlaid, stitched down, and then the underfabric is trimmed away.

Steam a Seam is great for sticking things you can't sew... Or thatneed sticking THEN sewing... Some lapped seams, for example./ Combined with the wooly nylon, I'd bet that was what it was for...

It's a nice smart pattern.

Here are a couple I love:

"Polly Esther" l but here's one that looks just like pure fun.

Well, it certainly is different. I like it, but probably won't have time to sew it. Barbara in FL

It is very interesting, but not really my style. When you make it though, please post photos.

I abandoned the idea, Emily. There's just not much available locally in the way of fabric and I didn't see anything online with a 4-way stretch like the pattern called for that would be welcome in my rather conservative wardrobe. Long ago, I had some silk that would have been fun but the 4-way is a killer of a requirement. Polly
