Awesome Simplicity Pattern (Its true, REALLY!!!)

I bought a pattern yesterday and I had some beautiful Beige eyelet embroidered linen-rayon with a scalloped border to make into a dress for a wedding I am going to this evening. I thought it would be a pain, but honestly I have to say this is the best simplicity pattern I have ever used.

It is number 4224 the first one on this page.

cutting the pattern and fabric yesterday, I started sewing today. I made the shrug out of some light (Black) sweater knit, it took literally 20 minutes start to finish. I made view B with no straps. I didn't use a zipper, I thought I had a matching one at home but I didn't, so I just used elastic in the back facing and sort of wiggle into it, which is fine. It is princess seamed and it went together so quickly! For the skirt I was going to use the pattern pieces but it would have ruined the scalloped edges, so I just made the skirt out of a long rectangle, and pleated it in. It comes to about mid calf on me, which is what I wanted.

I used a black ribbon for the tie belt for contrast, and to save time.

I have to say that I love this pattern, it was so easy and fast! The only thing I never liked about simplicity is the ease amounts, way too much! But at least I was aware and measured the pattern.

I will put up pictures later sometime after the wedding.

Sounds great! And it is a pretty style. You do have to watch Simplicity: some things are very good, some have enough ease to fit a pregnant hippo in with you!
