Buttonholer for a Singer 646 Touch & Sew?

OK - so I got this baby at a yard sale for $15 about two summers ago.

It's got the buttonhole switch thing, I can't believe it doesn't have cams and I was amazed (and before a good googlesearch, confused) by the autowinding bobbin. Neato!

But I don't have the manual and I'm not sure what kind of vocabulary I should be googling for this baby (i.e. no idea if it's slanted or shanked or... um...

They are a huge amount of fun to play with - like something Heath Robinson would have drawn!

Follow my advice, and I'll find homes for those gadgets if you care to post them to the UK...

Treadle On is good for hand cranks:

She's on the other side of Canada. Those things are h-e-a-v-y and the cost of postage for her would be daunting. But what I will do is go on the 'net and see if there's a local sewing group near her and ask someone there if they'd be willing to take on the buttonholers (with, of course, the promise that the new owners don't turn around and sell the things on eBay). It would be great if someone could get them from her... even if it's not me :-)

I'll go check them out.

Many thanks for the suggestions!

I sent one in a case to Kate in Kent and didn't have to take a mortgage to pay for it. You might be surprised. I even used air since surface mail could have taken 3 or 4 months.

And it works perfectly, even though for customer stuff I prefer the electronic Lily ones. I'll tell you what - kids just ADORE those gadgets! They love the buttonholers, and the pinking thingumy, and the ruffler! If I put any of those on the machines, they stop making their projects and I end up with miles of buttonholes on strips cut with pinked edges and ruffled down one side... Maybe I should make them use this to trim their bags! ;)

One observation: the buttonholers I have prefer the speed of the treadle to that of the handcrank... I'm a leeeeettle wary of them on the motorised 99 or the Featherweight, as I don't want them stressed too much, but I know they were sold for those machines too.
