Can You Help Me Find This Dress?

Hello All

I found a picture of a wonderful dress on the net, failed to bookmark the site and now would like to find it again. I'm hoping if I describe the dress it will jog someone's memory.

The main feature of the dress was strips of contrast fabric radiating down from the bodice. The strips were close together at the top and then flowed out to the hem of the dress, like a sunburst design.

I can't remember if the dress was a designer dress or a sewing pattern. I'm sorry there's so little to go on. My mother is looking for a dress for a wedding, saw this dress in a boutique in Edinburgh and went weak at the knees! Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Rachel

If you can post a photo on a site that permits pictures, we might be able to help you; or give a vivid description of the blouse, neckline, waist line, sleeves and as many other design features as possible.

Another suggestion: look through the pattern companies online to look for a similar design.

Assuming you were on your own pc, check your browsing history for that day and look at the sites you perused. Other than that the description you've given would make it it very difficult for anyone to happen upon this site. If you don't find it, mom may have to go to the boutique and pony up the money.

It's a lovely dress, my version is not as wonderful but much more my colouring. I believe the original project was to create something in blue. Which that dress did very well. It's a heck of e lot of french seaming .

Thanks for your replies, people.

I know there is little information to go on. I think I was so struck by the dress that I just assumed that someone else on alt.sewing would be too and would know what I was talking about, vagueness be damned.

I have sent a few emails to some dress shops in Edinburgh; hopefully they will be able to help. Of course, I deleted my browsing history a few days ago so searching my computer won't help.

Looks like my mother will have to do without. Of course, she was planning on making an entirely different dress anyway. But, we are all entitled to change our minds completely!

Many thanks
