Curtain Help Needed

I can't figure out what they do in the following pattern link to get the curtains to have nice soft, even, wavey gathers. These are just the regular kind of curtains that you sew a casing -- then you slide and gather it on the rod. What are they doing to create such even "loops"?

Thanks.

I have only made one set of curtains.....so I am no expert, but I think they used shirring tape. I have some that I have been planning to use "sometime"

could be something different, but I think you can get the same look with shirring tape.

I think they've "dressed them for the photo". They fuss with them until they look perfect and then take the picture. They might even have them pinned or clipped on the back side. You could do it, too, but the first breeze would undo them. JMHO...

They have used curtain tape. It is sewn on to the back of the curtain. Hooks are fitted through the gathered tape and then hooked onto a curtain track. The tape comes in different widths and styles (gathers, pencil pleat etc.) as do the curtain hooks. In Australia it is readily available at places like spotlight, a fabric retailer

We have tape for draperies - heavy fabric - that go on traverse rods. The hooks can be individual, or with several prongs to make a pleat when put into the channels in the tape. I have not seen anything in curtain weight, though. Sounds interesting.

using lots of fabric is key, then Starch the certains and/or wire, horsehair or buckram in the hem or even more than one option to make it stiff enough to hold the nice even look.

Oh my what a mess I made of that. blame the late night.

STARCH THE CURTAINS, then you can add wire to the hem or horsehair braid or buckram in the hem to give it a thick even curve to it.
