Does anyone own a Euro-Pro Model 9106 sewing machine?

Or, even if you know about them. What is your opinion of them?

I bought one about five years ago but never used it until a few weeks ago. It straight stitches beautifully. And, I did have it overcasting very nicely also. Just yesterday, it decidedit only wanted to straight stitch and it jams with every other stitch pattern. The straight stitch tensions are perfect. I changed the needle to a brand new one. I took out the bobbin and re-inserted it and rethreaded the whole shebang but nothing worked.

Any suggestions?

I still have my old reliable Singer that is pretty limited on stitch patterns.

Ron Anderson, our resident sewing machine guru, has said that they aren't bad machines, but that repair parts for them are not available. So they're fine for as long as they last, then they're landfill.

The old reliable Singers, on the other hand, just keep on keeping on, and there are repair parts in the surprisingly few instances when they are needed. If your old Singer is one of the pre-plastic era ones, there's little that can go wrong that can't be fixed with a minor adjustment.

Hi,

Thank you for your response to my sewing machine problem. I packed the darned thing up and put it away in a closet and some day will most likely toss it. I brought out my 31-year-old gear driven Singer which still runs beautifully.

I just came upon this post. It is now end of 2013 and I have had this Euro Pro machine since about 2004. I do a massive abount of sewing. It has worke d beautifully. I hope you gave the machine another try. Sounds like it migh t have been a stitch selection issue but a local machine repair person woul d have been able to help you. You can find a repair person that doesn't hav e to be for a specific brand. I just had to order my first part (I broke th e auto thread grabber tip thing) from a1sewingmachine.com. I have been sewi ng for over 40 years and have owned older and newer Singers, White (was not impressed) and even a Kenmore. All have served their purpose. I believe it is just what you like/need or want to try at that time.

I have used Europro since the year 2000. Wore out one topstitching quilts and my #2 still works beautiful. My husband however is a sewing machine repairman. I love them, hands down best for the money at the time. Sad you no longer use yours—
