facing/interfacing

I have a pair of Fiskars spring-loaded pinking shears, bought on recommendation of a friend. You close them on the fabric manually, but they open automatically, thus needing only half the amount of hand pressure.

How deep is the notch? I like a full 1/8" deep and wide, anything smaller doesn't prevent fraying, IMHO.

It seems to be 1/8 wide but marginally less than 1/8 deep. By contrast, my old, heavy-as-lead Wiss ones, which need sharpening which is why I got the new ones, have a notch a full 1/8 deep and about 3/16 wide. I bought mine at either JoAnn's or Hancock's. Why not take a look at them next time you are in either store?

I will look for them next time I'm in TSWLTH, I could certainly use some assistance in cutting out, my hands ache after a long day of it.

Thanks!

Let us know how you like them if and when you find them. Don't forget to use your store coupon on them.

p.s. Even as light as they are, I still only use mine for trimming certain areas during construction.

The fabric arrived today. I love the brocade it's gorgeous, although it is not "purple" (more of a deep royal blue) so DD said I should keep it for me. :-}

The embroidered fleece is a disappointment, *much* thinner than I had hoped for. Really more of a nightgown or PJ weight, almost like what used to be called "brushed nylon", not suitable for a jacket at all. Ah well, I can probably donate it to the Senior Center for *something*.

Thanks for the report. That embroidered "fleece" looked so interesting, but I really hate that "brushed nylon."

Me too! Even the "Nordic Fleece" sold by TSWLTH would have been better, this is really thin. Hmmm, might make a nice light weight spring/fall robe though, it's such an intersting peice I hate to toss it. ;-)

Have you thought of adding a low temp fusible knit to the wrong side? Might give it more body....enough to keep?

Just a thought, AK in PA
