Fake Fur - Yikes!

I'm making a fake fur purse for an adult grandchild. The fur is about 1" long and the lining is a heavy, satiny polyester.

For the flap, on other purses I've made, I stitch the fabric to the lining and then turn it inside out. Then I press and top stitch.

I don't see how I can top stitch this fur; it will look awful. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks.

how about putting something like wonder under onto the fabric side to the flap, sewing and then pressing the two together after turning? this will glue the two together rendering topstitching unnecessary

Thank you so much. I'll pick some up tomorrow.

I would test *iron* the fur first. Wonder Under is great, although I'm not sure you can get it off the backing to slip between already-assembled pieces. Maybe Stitch Witchery or something similar instead? Either of these is great, but I think they might require a hot iron setting, and that might damage the fur.

I use visiline normally - it sets with a wool setting but I'm not sure it's available in the USA

I think that's the one that does that - as I don't usually buy in the USA it's hard to remember all the makes - it is indeed the double sided one I meant

I can turn it stitched side out, peel off the WU and apply, turn right side out and press. It sounds like it's sticky on one side only and then melts when heat is applied.

I will test before applying too much heat to the fur.

Thank you all for the help.

Faux fur melts at a very low temp. You'd be better off just doing a hand herringbone stitch on the lining side to catch the layers together. It doesn't take that long, and will look fine.

That's a good solution:

's very pretty and may be really attractive in a metallic thread the same color as the lining. Thank you.
