men's tailor dummy

I am trying to find a men's tailor dummy or dress form. I found one on the internet but it was smaller than I need (only a 38" chest) I would need at least a 40" or 42" chest or one that was adjustable. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look or leads to research?

You most local sewing store is a good place to start: there are several brands of adjustable dress forms available, and they come in child, small, medium and large female, and two sized of male forms that I have seen in catalogues here in the UK. Try Joanne's, Hancocks, or some of the on-line stores, if your local machine/sewing supplies shop cannot help.

There used to be one called Mr. Ardis, I believe, and I'm fairly certain it was adjustable. You might do a search on Jo-Ann's (and others) website for that name. Karen Maslowski in Cincinnati

Good thing my wife hasn't seen this post! She'd volunteer my services as a male dummy !

But do you change size at the twist of a dial? Or does it take weeks of dieting or pigging out on chocolate?

You could make one yourself using duct tape. Instructions are at several online sites.

Ok, I can't sew for ...... but I want to. I'm alone so it's hell trying to pin a pattern on my own tush! But I have an artist friend who took a class in of all things mold making. They use an algae to make an EXACT body mold and then pour plaster or some of the other things to make a casting mold. Now with the new year I'm going to bug my friend to find out where I get the stuff at an affordable price.

As someone mentioned earlier, you can make your own body double using duct tape. Some instructions are here:

There are instructions for a couple different techniques. You will need help with this (it is simply impossible to do it properly by yourself), but it's relatively cheap and doesn't require special equipment and all the other person has to be able to do is wrap tape around you while you're wearing a t-shirt.
