prosthesis pockets in bras

Jun 17, 2007 20 Replies

I line my own bras because the others are so expensive. I found a shoulder pad that was just the right size and used it for a pattern, cutting two of them.. I left one side - nearest the underarm - open enough to stuff the prosthesis inside. I have started wearing the Bosom Buddy forms because they are light weight and less expensive. My insurance company covers them. If you haven't seen them go to http://

. A lot of women on the AOL Just Us board also use them. I have found a light weight cotton knit fabric that works fine. I've also bought some of those athletic (bikers) bras and made a pocket for the form. I wear these under tee shirts and find they are lots more comfortable than regular bras. They don't give great support but they hold you so tight it doesn't matter ... I started using them when I was fresh out of the hospital because they were more comfortable.
