sewing with tractor parts!

I have just won the Australian national AgArt competition. A garment/costume has to be made from things you would find on a farm and or produce. I made a showgirl costume. the two piece garment is made from the inner tube of a tractor tie. Twine has been used to sew it together and to fasten knickers. Tarp tape is used as a closing device on the bodice. Belt and arm details are made from washers linked with beer cans joiners and threaded onto rubber strips. Back detail of belt is made from part of a cable drum, irrigation risers and feathers from an old black rooster. Neckpiece is made from a bicycle tube, washers and rope. Headpiece made from an old colander, part from a boom spray , wheel trim, tractor inner tube, bicycle tube, feathers and wire. It is padded with horse hair. Decorations include, spray jets , washers, lentils, beans, rope, split links. Footwear is made inner tube from tractor and bike. I now go on to New Zealand. Totally different type of sewing!! Amazing, Amelia!

There's never an old black rooster around when I need one ...

Congratulations on your well-deserved win. I had to pull the page up along with the post of your description to believe my eyes. When you said you're "on to New Zealand," does that mean the competition continues at another level?

And with very good reason! Congratulations on using so much creativity to create such an incredible costume!

Now what I'm wondering is this: Are you going to wear this again, maybe for some, er, special occasion? LOL What a great thing to have in your closet for Halloween!

Just had to tell you, I printed out your post describing what you made the whole thing out of. Then I printed out the picture. I HAD to show this one to my DH. He was really impressed!!!

Now, I'm a little scared. I'm afraid the bar has been set and he will start bringing home refrigeration parts that don't work any more..... Eeek!!!

LOL!!
