Why no e-mail Address

Some of you folks out there request information and then your e-mail address isn't good when I try to apply.

If you request information please have a valid return address.

Thanks, Rollie

Rollie, I at least think the e-mail addy is going to be put into the post as yours is at the top of this message by the computer program that you (and I ) happen to be using. So I would not think that I would need to add it in the body or the signature of the message. AK in PA

You should just respond on group (which is proper USEnet etiquette), and the OP can read your response there. E-mail addresses are not required on USEnet, and usually just fill with spam if provided.

I used the message I sent to the NG and sent a testing post only to me. The the post hasn't shown up yet. And the only thing it had in the address box was my name. So apparently there isn't an addy "implied" in the name to send it where it needs to go. Hhhmmmm, have to remember that when I send my son e-mails. His name alone might not be enough. But it is plain from the lines at the top of this post that when it is sent to the group the proper e-mail addy is attached.

Were you trying to respond to me? If not to me then at least Joy has a fake addy displayed at the top for some reason. Privacy? Prevention of ID theft??????

Well, if it was me you wanted up there is my addy. I'll be home all day though maybe not on the computer. AK in PA

Well, it did go back to me. Just not here in the newsgroup. It went to my regular e-mail addy. Which is actually what it shows up top there.

It's good manners to reply on-group. Others may be interested in your reply.

Uh-uh! I stopped including a 'computer useable' (= spam harvester) email addie with my NG reader quite a long while ago. I was collecting anything between 50 to 100 spam emails a day. I do, however, include a 'human translatable' addie in my sig.

Maybe because this is a Usenet group and the replies are supposed to be sent to the group? It is generally considered rude to post here and ask for replies to solely be sent by email, after all.

Spot on Melinda.....it also prevents the spammers with email collecting software from adding you to their list.
