Antiquities Embossing Powder

I recently bought a jar of Antiquities embossing powder (terra cotta color) from a store I don't usually frequent. I have not used this brand before. I was puzzled because when I tried to use it it didn't melt at all -- it stuck in place when I heated it, but didn't behave the way other brands of embossing ink have behaved. Is this a characteristic of the Antiquities brand, or is this a bad bottle? My friend says that some powders are meant to do that, but I don't see the point of embossing with something that simply sticks but doesn't melt. Or am I being narrow minded?

I thought I'd send this post again. Maybe our news server didn't send it out because I've seen no responses to it and this group is usually quite chatty about this sort of thing. Any advice?
