Bottle Stopper chuck

I got a bottle stopper pin chuck from Packard. It is basically a 3/8" rod with a flat that you lay a round pin on and slide the blank on over it. Works a treat! Only problem is, if you pull the blank off too fast before you get a hold on the pin, it promptly rolls off into the shavings bin. The solution to this is to magnetize the pin. It may roll around to the bottom of the rod but it won't fall off. Just a hint for any of you that use this little chuck.

Put a distinctive mark showing where the flat for the roll pin is up. With magnetizing, might save some effort.

Truth is, with my old pin chuck, I dropped even magnetized roll pins so often that I bought a chunk of brazing rod - easily cut replacements - rather than spend the time dragging magnets around.
