Finkat Sand Paper (any thoughts??)

Jul 05, 2004 1 Replies

Hi folks, I have been using Norton 3X Aluminium Oxide paper for a while now. It is more expensive that regular sandpaper, but I find it cuts cleaner and lasts way longer. I thought I read somewhere on this forum (can't find it now) that Finkat paper (available from Craft Supplies USA) is even better. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance. Best regards, irwin

Hi Irwin,

I use Finkat (A weight paper) and Klingspoor gold (J weight fabric) for the limited amount of handsanding I do, as I mostly power sand using Merit disks and Premier Abrasive/SIA Gold wave Velcro disks.

I user the Klingspoor fabric when I need a physically stronger abrasive, but I think the Finkat paper is the best overall abrasive paper I have come across for hand sanding. I always use a slice of a 1/8" or 1/4" mouse pad for a backer when hand sanding.
