i have a jwl 1236 new christmas gift i a little concerned with a noise from the motor almost like a squeaking. after taking the cover off and the fan blade i noticed a spring clutch and if you watch it it moves in and out when you turn it on and off wondering if any one has any insight on this.
Call Jet and ask them. I have the same lathe and had an issue with the tail stock. Called them a couple of times and got excellent results and excellent customer service...also, the 1236 sometimes will not change speeeds very well if it's in a cold place. Mine is in my garage and it gets a little cold and the pulleys get a little sluggish...
