also saw a bathroom sink that was epoxy coated on one of the home TVshows.

Experiment. I would think that the drain would not have to be a problem. My Delta faucet came with a plastic drain assembly which should not put excessive strain on the sink hole.

Explain please. Why would your plastic drain fittings not put as much strain on the wood, if it expands/contracts, as a metal fitting? Is yours a flexible plastic drain fitting and not just a Schedule 40 or 80 PVC?

Another thing to consider is the overflow. Most, if not all, commercially made sinks have a overflow drain. This is usually just a couple holes near the rim of the sink that connect into the drain. Prevents the water from overflowing the edge of the sink with the accompanying damage to the floor and ceiling below. An ounce of prevention....

Thanks, Digger. I've been searching for really light glass cloth without success. 1oz. was about the finest I've found.

Search for "basin" The wood sink will headup the list. The start at a little over $2,000.00 to almost $3,200.00 forsink only!! I sure would turn one before I would pay those prices!! Mutiplecoats of epoxy should seal all surfaces.
