Rex, It's not working well for me--I get the menu bar, the header logo, and the "Welcome to..." text header, but no content. Beautiful backdrop, though! Could be because my Java software isn't the latest, or that I'm on a Mac and the site is optimized for Windows--but you may be excluding those who don't have a new PC with the latest updates. I do have the last version of Internet Explorer for Mac, plus a fairly new version of Mozilla and tried them both. I don't have trouble with applets on other sites, or pages with frames, but something's just not working here. From one webmaster to another, I say keep it simple--forget the hi-tech frills unless you're prepared to go in and tweak the source to make it work for most viewers. Also, I've heard many times that FrontPage can really mess things up. Guess I've said enough--sorry, I'm just disappointed I didn't get to see anything!

It worked well for me. I can easily read all the pages with the Adobe reader

5.0. Nice presentation of basic information on checking, by the way.

Rex, I have to second Ken Grunke comments. I have a new Dell computer with all the latest versions (as of Oct 1), and the site came up fine with it, (and I was quite impressed with the galleries that are posted). After reading Ken's coments, I tried with my old system (Compaq 200 mhz system circa 1998, Internet Explorer 5.5, Windows 95), and all I was able to get was the opening page with logo and welcome text and background. You still need to do some work on the site to make it compatible with a lot with older systems that a lot of the turners are using. If you want to get their attention, then you need to backward cocmpatible. But other than that, I was impressed with the site. It loaded quickly on my dial up connection (at 26.4 Kbs), and the galleries were well organize and the thumbnails came up quickly.

I have a question about one of the turnings. How was the "epoxy rim" piece done? I have seen epoxy done several ways, but I'm mystified at how the effect shown on the rim was done. I can see what appears to be an imbedded material in the epoxy, but I can't determine what it is or how it was done. I have an idea how I would do something like that, but I'm not sure what all is inside the epoxy. How about a clue?

It took a while for the page to load and then there were two items on the menu that came up with red Xs. I went to projects and when I clicked on vacuum chuck my system completely locked up. I couldn't use ctl/alt/del or any other keyboard function. It took a machine reset to get back on.

It does look like a good site and I will probably try it again.

I have to second that, I cannot get the menu to operate correctly, if you hover over the link in the menu that you are interested in, then type that link into the address bar, it brings the page up no problem. I have windows XP, a fast processor and all the latest IE service patches, so it is not just backwards compatibility thing

Looking at the sort for the menu, I notice it refers to a java applet - I guess that this is where your troubles lie.

I you wish I can give you a script - or just rewrite the menu (no charge) so that an applet is not necesary and your buttons will still change when you hover over them.

I also suggest that you clean up the main banner so that it is either on a white background or a transparent background, at the moment it is somewhere inbetween. I can help you with this also.

However, the few teething troubles aside, it looks to be a very promising site. Some very good content so far.

No secrets, thats the cool thing about turners.

The material in the inlay is swarf, you know the long spiral stuff that comes off a drill or lathe and takes the skin off you knuckles.

Turn a deep trough around the rim, not finishing the rim area of the bowl.

Do the epoxy as normal then turn the excess off including the sides of the deep trough .

fix the swarf to the bottom of the trough with hot melt glue or CA glue so its central and stays in place.

Take your time putting the epoxy in, running it in around and around the rim so as to expell all the air pockets, and that is it

Thanks for the feedback on the site, will keep adding things as we can.

First and most important is to get a picture i=on the opener and to sort the buttons that seem to be causing some problems.
