I've seen postings about Nova Compac chuck. Doesn't sound good. Is the Nova Precision Midi the same chuck? Any opinions on it? Woodcraft has it for $120. I assume it's complete, thread, jaws, etc. What is a Woodworm screw? Many thanks.

Can't answer the other questions, but the Woodworm is a screw chuck that fits into the scroll chuck.

The Nova Compac chuck has received mixed reviews on this NG. I have one that is 2+ years old. Apparently, it is one of the good ones. My particular chuck has performed satisfactorily and I have been very happy with it. Others have reported numerous problems and quality control issues. The only problem I have had with mine is the inherent limitations of capacity due to its small size.
The Compac chuck is no longer being made, probably because of the numerous problems reported and resultant bad press. The Nova Midi chuck is not the same chuck, but is the replacement chuck for the Compac. The Midi, I believe, is a slightly larger chuck than the Compac. I have no experience with the Midi, but it looks promising.
