Noise in Delta 14-40 headstock

My 1440 is about a year old, and the 'reves drive' in the headstock (where else) is starting to make small chirping noises. Changing speed seems to help for a while, but not permanently. I've removed the cover and the belt looks good. What are the lubicratons points and intervals? I don't think it sounds like bearing problems yet, but I'd like to turn with it quiet.

Check the set screw on the pulley on the motor shaft. I used to have the older 12" version of this lathe, and that screw would come loose on a regular basis, until I got some blue locktite. The blue locktite isn't permanent, you can loosen the screw later if you need to.

try a link belt. While you have the belt off, spray some Boeshield T-9 on the sheaves.

Mine is noisy too. Rattles, no chirps. I just wear ear protection, I have the ones with a radio built in.

I took mine apart and cleaned it and greased it. You will need a snap-ring pliers but no other special tools.

Something else to keep an eye on. Clean and lubricate the motor shaft with grease. What happens is that the sliding pulley side wears on the keystock. The keystock rubs away the softer pulley material. You will have to replace the pulley eventually. I did.
