Tulipwood ?

So few weeks ago I have a few spare $$, go to Woodcraft and buy three bowl blanks one unknown (did turn out nice) one cherry and one tulipwood. all were wax sealed, got them home and put then on bandsaw to cut into rounds. All is well at this point. Liked the grain & color of the unknow so turned it first. Been spending the last few days putting the finish on it. So last niight I look at the Tulipwood round getting ready to mount it and notice a fair amount of checking on the sides should I fill this with CA now or wait an see what happans when I start to turn it. It is a 3" x 6" round that I want to try to make into a steep sided thin walled bowl. TIA.
