An update

Hi group:

Turns out my granddaughter gave me more than a cold. I have viral pinkeye. I picked up some Polysporin eye & ear drops after spending some quality time(snicker) at the walk-in clinic to be told what my daughter already knew (laugh). The doctor was very nice, even checked my ears, nose & throat as well.

While waiting, I got a good chunk of a sock done, as well as having a nice chat with the lady next to me. Whenever you think your life is bad, all you have to do is talk to someone else. She has Crohn's - I have a very good life in comparison to hers. However, she wasn't complaining - we were just passing the time talking about waiting in clinics.

I'm off to "drop" my eyes before bed..... see you all tomorrow. ;>D

I'm sorry that you have such an infliction, Shelagh... but at least you do know what it is now, and have something for it... so that's half the battle won. :o)

Oh no, that poor lady with Crohn's! There is a young lady (26 or 27) here in town who has that. I remember seeing her grow up... so sweet and shy... she still is. She had a fiance' for a while, but her mother told me that when he found out what she has he broke up with her because he doesn't want to have to deal with it. Awww, poor him... I'm sure that SHE doesn't want to deal with it either, but she has no choice in the matter.

-- I was in the hospital today (just to have my right elbow x-rayed... more about that in a second) and while I was in the waiting room there was a young lady there with three small children under the age of five. The little girl (toddler) in her lap had to have her finger x-rayed because the oldest boy had accidentally shut the door on her hand and jammed her finger in it. The second boy was *very* rambunctious and running around, the little girl would scream and cry in pain every so often, and the oldest boy just sat quietly and looking upset when the little girl would scream and cry in pain. While watching this young lady with her three tiny children... I did not envy her at all, having to handle all of that. One elderly man was a bit annoyed by it all, but everyone else was very understanding and pleasant with the lady and her children, trying to entertain the little ones a bit while they waited their turn.

-- As for my right elbow... it's been killing me for the last three months, but my doctor thought it might just be the Fibromyalgia, so we did nothing about it. While at my doctor's appointment this morning I finally asked him today to PLEASE send me to a bone specialist to see if he might figure out what it was. It feels like a knife being driven into the outer part of my elbow (kind of between two bones), and the pain (and heat) radiates down toward my the back and outside edge of my wrist. My doctor ordered x-rays (and a copy to the specialist) because he said the specialist wouldn't see me if it hadn't been done first. So now I wait. *shrug*

Hi Shelagh, Another thing that will help clear it up.get you some boric acid ,it s in the pharmacy area ,mix some boric acid in some warm water take a wash cloth. get it wet with the water and lay it over your eyes, it will help soothe your eyes and help clear the pink eye.

Hi Shelagh,

Oh that's too bad about the pinkeye. I used what Stella suggested, even the eye doctor said it would help more then the drops at that time.

Hugs,

Hi Gemini,

Oh my, how in the world did you stand the pain for three months? Lets pray that the x-rays show something is wrong. Let us know when you find out.

Hugs and Prayers,

Nora

Poor you, Shelagh! I had that a while ago and had a couple of days off work, but I couldn't really do anything. Hope you are better soon.

Hi! If Shelagh can see this...Poor you! Truly sorry about that eye business. My own eyes should be fixed...it means my glasses should be changed again...I afraid they are too weak. Driving is getting harder and seeing the text in signs on the road. Aw man...I do not want to crash...I never want to crash to be honest. Best: Pirjo

Shelagh, I hope it goes away soon! When I had it a few years ago, my eyes were blood red. You should have seen the way people looked at me. I do believe they thought I was a vampire :) The pain was pretty bad too, and seeing it was contagious I couldn't work for a week. I worked in a deli at the time. I don't know about the boric acid, but using a very warm washcloth sure felt wonderful. Feel better soon!

I'm quite surprised at how quickly a few applications of the eye drops has helped. The drops do sting a bit, but it's certainly worth it. At least my eyes look reasonably normal today.

I know what you mean - mine were blood red as well - but the drops seem to have removed a lot of it.

for a week. I worked in a deli at the time.

felt wonderful. Feel better soon!

Thanks..... I haven't had a lot of pain, but lots of watering from the eyes. I haven't really been anywhere because of it being contagious, and been washing my hands lots! I set out separate towels for DH & me - and made sure he understood not to use mine! ;>D

*shrug* I just dealt with it the best I could... like I said, we thought it might have just been my Fibromyalgia throwing something else at me.

Most times it was *mildly* bearable, but there were times when the pain was so bad it made my stomach churn (and I have enough stomach problems at times). If I rest my wrist and lower arm on my leg it doesn't hurt quite as much, so that is the way I drive... using only my left hand to steer except when turning a corner. Of course being right-handed doen't help. I often forget what I'm doing and reach (without thinking about it) for something with my right hand... before I realize it I have picked it up and almost dropped it because the pain shoots through my elbow.

Yes, even though I really don't want more things to be wrong, I will be relieved if they actually find something so they can do what needs to be done to fix it. I will let you know as soon as I know.

Shelagh,

Sorry to hear about the pink eye. We are on a 21 day cycle with it! Son # 2 had it first, DH had it 3 weeks later, and I'm expecting either me or Son #1 will get it in a couple of weeks. I hope your eyes clear up soon!

Shelagh,

Sorry to hear that your visit with the kids brought on this trouble. I do hope the meds take effect quickly and that you're completely better very soon. Sounds like the boric acid suggestion is as good (or perhaps even better) than the usual meds the docs give......

Gem, I'm sorry to hear of your trouble too. I imagine due to your financial troubles and situation, that was the reason for your delaying pursuit of this problem. I do hope it's cleared up for you soon.

I keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Gentle hugs, Eve

Thank you, Eve! :o) *hugs back* Actually our financial situtation has nothing to do with our health care here in Ontario, thankfully. Everyone living in Ontario has OHIP (Ontario Hospitalization Insurance Plan) that covers most things like doctor's appointments, x-rays, hospital treatments, and hospital stays (in a ward... if you want private or semi-private then you have to pay yourself, but I like wards anyway because I like to talk with other people).

No, my only reason for delaying looking further into the pain in my elbow is because my doctor assumed it might be just one more thing brought on by my Fibromyalgia and figured it would fade away like some other pains have done (not really disappearing, but moving on to a new location)... so we waited. I just was tired of waiting, plus the pain is exactly the same... no milder at all.. as it was three months ago, so I finally asked him while I was at my appointment on Tuesday to PLEASE send me to the bone specialist. The one he is sending me to is known for being the best one in the area. It will likely take a while to get an appointment, but even if it does, he is worth the wait. If there *is* something wrong with my actual elbow (the bone itself) he will find it... if not, then I guess we have to find a different type of doctor to have a look instead. *shrug*

If it would just ease up once in a while... like when I am resting it and not moving it at all, for instance... I wouldn't mind so much and could likely just suck it up and live with it. It's the constant pain, but mostly the shooting pain like a knife driving through it when I make the slightest move that is the most annoying part of it. Ah well, life goes on! :o)

I do thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

*hugs* Gem
