Crochet poll

Hi Leah,

I hold the hook knife style, always have. As for hooks, I have only metal hooks. I had a wooden one, size M or something on the large scale, but had to get rid of it as it got a split and it kept snagging on the yarns.

I have never tried bone, but would like too. The only complaint is that I have noticed that the metal ones get bend after a while. Don't know if it is from the heat from my hands or am I bending it as I crochet.

As far as I am concerned, I am a relaxed crocheter. My hands never ache, but they do get numb, BUT I think that is another story! (carpal tunnel?)

(my favourite NAME, btw!) As you can see, I didn't go back to bed, I'm fighting it so I'll sleep tonight! COTTON chenille... that's what mom's bedspread and robe were, I'm sure! Noreen who is'NT distracting herself with yarn, my hands feel like arthur-itis! Man do I ache!

I'm pretty certain SB doesn't have an aluminum N: your options are pretty much Boye or plastic. I prefer the cut on SB too -- I feel it holds the yarn better -- and my N is plastic as a result.

I don't like chenille either. I can think of a couple of times I've been gifted with a chenille sweater, have worn it to work, and by the end of the day, my sweater is nearly threadbare and my cubicle is covered in a haze. I loved the pattern though and thought that since this chenille was particularly sturdy, I would give it the benefit of the doubt and try it. If I'd known it was going to twist up on iself so much I'd run screaming for an alternate yarn. S.

hmmm, I have two metal BOYE N hooks. And, for the record, I HATE susan bates hooks, that flat hook is the pitts, imho N.

Well I don't care so long as I've got something to crochet with that has a hook at the end, as to holding it...mmn neither knife nor pencil....sort of chop sticks fashion I guess you'd say only using one instead of two....now that'd be nifty if we could hold two and do two different projects at the same time...giggle

You know something? I have one (store-bought) chenille sweater and that happens. It doesn't happen with the other (store-bought) ones. I really want to knit one for myself, but I don't know if it would be worth the bother. Hmmm, thinking time is coming)

I can't hardly crochet with Boyes hooks they cause me to split the yarn way to much.. I love the hook ends like Susan Bates.. Marsha

I'll try anything that's the right size, although I find wood slightly more "sticky" so unless I'm using a very slippery yarn it slows me down, so I don't often use them. I'd like to though 'cos I've got a couple of lovely carved ones which look great but don't feel good to work with. I've never seen bone hooks, not sure how I'd feel about using them. I suppose I hold my hook like a knife but I've never really thought about it like that. I taught myself from diagrams in a children's encyclopaedia when I was about
