OT: It's Thurs. in England so I can say Happy Birthday to Cher

LOL Yes, she just won't admit to it! ;o)

Actually Nov 4th is Guy Fawkes (sp) Day which is celebrated in the UK with bonfires and fireworks, and ummmm eggs wrapped in sausage meat for eating (I can't think of what they're called right now, and I had them once at a Guy Fawkes party thrown by a Welsh friend... they are very tasty.) Ooooh, wait.... Scotch Eggs? I think that's it!

Cher, or one of the other people from the UK will have to fill you in on who the man was... I don't have a clue.

Remember remember the 5th of November Gunpowder treason and plot..

Anyone know if there is another verse?

No our dogs hate all the bangs and whoooosh noises so I shall have to stay close to them, but as the display is in THEIR walkies field we get to see them for free from upstairs ..lol....Cher

Thank you for the URL, Ophelia. Very interesting site, and story. I never knew the story behind the person. What a horrible way to die though. Yikes!

Please to remember the Fifth of November, Gunpowder treason, and plot. I see no reason Why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

Or

Please to remember The Fifth of November, The poor old guy with a hole in his stocking A hole in his shoe A hole in his hat where his hair comes through, If you haven't got a penny a halfpenny will do, If you haven't got a halfpenny God bless you.

I've heard the last two lines of that before... but not with the first bit.... I think it was with something else in a nursery rhyme book that either I had or Matthew had. hmmm... I can't remember now.
