Triple bypass, Noreen? She will be sore for a while. I am glad that things went well, and will continue to pray for her.

Yes, Katherine, Triple. Mother's first, in 1979 was Quadruple, and she was either 52 or 54 (can't do the math right now) Nancy's 45. (and diabetic, and thryroid) Hugs, Noreen who thanks you very much for the prayers and support and friendship.

The news is good - I hope her recovery goes smoothly. Be sure you keep track of your own heart health. Some of the problems run in families as my DH has found. Take care, Judy

I know that is a worry - my DH did it about 15 years ago and had 5 bypasses. It was difficult at the time and he had to take some time off to recuperate. The bypasses have held up well, though, and he leads a very active life. He is pretty good at watching what he eats and he exercises regularly - which helps.

I'll be thinking about the two of you. Judy

Noreen,

Get Well Wishes off to your sister for a speedy recovery. It will be slow at first, but later on she should feel better than before the surgery. Try not to worry too much, but you should also be checked just in case.

Aud,

Hope your DH feels better soon. I hope everything goes well.

Diane

Ah, but ya'll don't know me very well. I don't put the faith in 'medicine' that my family does. It's great for them, but not for me. Noreen

Thanks, Judy. Yes, it does run in families, but I'll not go under the knife, ever again. When it's my time, it IS. Noreen (that is why my sister and mother will never ever have POA over my medical stuff, Don and the girls, while they don't agree with me, know my wishes)

Ohh Aud, thinking of you, but today they are so smart with that kind of operation, he will come back as good as new.

I will second that. My maternal grandmother and maternal uncle by died early with heart problems. My mother had them from being in her 40's and died at 88. My sister, two brothers and myself have got them, me being the only one to have a bypass. It is thought that we are born with the gene and it raises its ugly head when we get to our 40's. My sister and I took part in the big Gene card study that was worked on by British and USA scientists. The cardio said it was not fair that I got it since I never smoked, watched my weight and was quite active until the angina stopped me.

There was no way I could have avoided it.

Pleased to know Nancy has come out okay. Aud, I hope your DH gets on well too. Shirley

Yes, Shirley, genetics are definitely the biggest factor.
