threads , cloth and what happens when they meet

Mirjam, This gave me chills to read because I feel the same when I visit the art museum. The art from cloth and thread seems to be more personal and touch me deeper than the sculptures/paintings. I wish that someday I will be able to see your work. Carol in TN

I had a visitor who came to look at my work ...i showed her the catalogs , i showed her the few works that hang on the wall , and the many more that are folded in a closet. Luckily she did not Ohh/ Ahh in an artificial way, she looked at work after work , asked about sizes?, how long it took me to make it? and how it fitted in the lines of my work. She asked permission to photograph, and asked some bigraphical questions.... when i folded it all back , she was quiet, i made coffee than she said : "Tothink you made ALL THIS only with threads and cloth , makes my mind turn ,, i would like understand what happenes at the moment thread and cloth meet in your thoughts, and later while you work? " , I answered her that she already wrote in her research about sculptores and painters,,,Why would this be different? She said that before she looked closely at my work , she was sure it was the same , now she thinks that the meetings of Threads with cloth are more sensual more intiem more delicate than the other kinds of art making . mirjam

What a lovely thing for that lady to say about your work, Mirjam! And well, it is true... you do put your heart and soul into each work of art that you create. Whether it be from personal memories, memories from your families that you have heard throughout your life, or even deep-seated feelings about things, it all comes out for everyone to see and feel deep inside by looking at and studying your work.

Mirjam, I feel this is quite right! the work takes time, you cannot be in a hurry. That makes room for reflections and "evaluations" both of the work and your feelings, as you work along! Difficult to explain and find the words, but it is something there... Aud ;-)

Well said, Aud! I find that, even when you are concentrating on something tricky, the rest of your mind is quiet and enjoying the soothing rhythm of the knitting, stitching or whatever you're doing.

Dear Mirjam How lovely to have someone look at your work who understands!!! Her comments prove this, and hopefully made your heart glad to hear them.

I received your postcard yesterday and enjoyed the pictures - thank you!

Hi Mirjam,

I'm so glad that someone understands all your lovely work. There have been so many that don't but great to hear that someone other then this group appreciates all the love you put into your artistic work.

Hugs,

Your twin,

Nora
