I'm sorry; I haven't the foggiest. I just heard someone say that they opened a yarn store there. I have never been closer to there than the Kaiser parking garage myself.

Not Likely spun a FINE 'yarn':
Not Likely. . . Gem, It's an annual event, always the same weekend, which for the past three years has been the 2nd Saturday of June. It was GREAT weather, not nearly as hot as last year, AND we made the paper and got pix and interviews! Yippeeeeeeee! Hugs, Noreen
I'll make a note of this in the back of this year's calendar to add to next year's calendar when we get one. Good to hear the weather agreed with the event... and that you made the paper too. ;o)
*hugs* Gem
I think I found it. Looks like it's called Fashion Knit. The address is slightly different than Thimblecreek's old address, so I'm thinking it's not the whole store that Thimblecreek used to occupy.
I will have to check it out next time I am in that area.
Looks like Thimblecreek has moved to Concord. I'm glad they didn't go out of business.
The phone book says that "FashionKnit" is at 1538 Newell Ave. I bet that is it.
I have been planning to get down there, but somehow just have not.
Aar>> Is the yarn store there in the whole store that used to be Thimblecreek?
I am so glad to see this post ,,, the first one from 12 june that came through ???? mirjam
coming
And next year we could maybe get a little warning so we could plan on taking our knitting with us ... make a point of knitting in public is what I'm trying to say. ;-))

Many years ago I did a research paper in college about knitting. While writing it I discovered that men started the whole knitting craze back when armor consisted of thick knits.
Perhaps the gentlemen at Nordstrom's were unaware of that.

Knitting originates when and with whom we can not say for sure but it has certainly been the profession of men in the past. I find a parallel in computer programming. That field is dominated by men today but was predominately the task of women when the term "computer" began to be applied to machines rather than people who calculated things.

We do seem to switch back and forth, don't we. So much for strict gender roles. ;-)
