Question about Beading Thread

I recently got interested in beading/jewelry making and my current project is a ankle bracelet.

I am using 4mm Hematite drum beads and was wondering what kind of beading thread I should use since the beads have a little more weight than regular beads?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

For ankle bracelets, I would use Soft Touch - it's a covered wire twist that's soft and supple, but still very durable. If you need to use thread, Silamide should be durable enough for hematite, but I would still recommend the other. Good luck!

Another question just occured to me...

How do I know what size thread to get?? I notice some of them come in sizes or gauges.

You can gauge it to the size of the holes in your beads. However, since you're a newbie to the craft, I'd suggest getting the 0.14 Softflex (thin and durable, a good all around weight) or the 8 lb PowerPro. You can use either of those on a variety of beads, and it should prove quite satisfactory until you get addicted and need a whole collection of stringing materials.
