Anyone ordered thread from Red Rock Threads?

I'm looking at the YLI silk thread for a wedding project or three... Not quilts, but garment construction. I hear several famous quilters like this thread for quilting, and I see it's also advised for garments, so I thought I'd ask! :)

What weight are you thinking of using, Kate? I have used the YLI silk 100 a lot - I absolutely love it. . In message , Kate Dicey writes

That's the one I want! Perfect, I hope, for fine silk crepe de chine and dupion, and for hand finishing, buttonholes, etc... In fact, for anything you care to mention where a fine silk thread that is (dare I say it!) smooth as silk is needed! ;) If they'll give me a bulk discount, I might even get some for the serger! If not, I'll just use it in the left needle for seaming the habotai linings.

Gutterman is OK for silk tweed and silk and wool mixes, but I find it a bit too thick and woolly for the finer silks.

Five hours hunting for a UK source has drawn a blank! Phoo!

I thought you wanted to use the supplier you quoted, so I didn't mention a supplier.

I got mine from Quilt Direct, but Cotton Patch also sell it.

They are the two mail order places I use most often. I also use the Quilt Room from time to time. . In message , Kate Dicey writes

I like red rock. They have good in colors & big spools & free shipping. I've ordered from them several times.

They were just where I found it by Googling, and the price seemed good. I shall compare prices and shipping.
