more than once, I've been advised to use silk thread for certain tasks - I've been keeping my eye open for it, but I can't find it, is there some other name it goes under?
someone also suggested gold or platinum (I think) needles, I haven't looked for those yet, but are they easy to find?

I know you live vaguely near/around the Seattle area but some might not. Perhaps when you are looking for a local source you could mention a general geographic area to facilitate helpful suggestions. For numerous reasons I do very little local retail shopping but we have quite a few people around western Washington in this group and they could possibly be very helpful to you.

I noticed that Joann's had some silk thread on their shelves at the can't-use-your-coupon store in Springfield, but I don't remember the brand name.
