drilling glass

Hi everybody, I have 4 glass big bottles, 50 gallons capacity and want to make from them decorative lamps. For that purpose need to open one hole in each in order to pass an electric wire. Does somebody knows how to drill that hole in the bottle ? Thank you in antecipation

Secure the bottle so that the location of the intended hole is on the top and the axis of the hole vertical. Build a plasticine bund around the hole, about an inch or so away. Direct a gentle stream of water into the bund, so that it continually overflows. Use a slow-speed drill with either a diamond or a tungsten carbide bit, preferably in a stand. Use light pressure and be prepared to take a long time. Keep the water running continually. Provide some means for the water to be collected or run away.

Alternatively, ask someone who knows how to drill holes in glass to do it for you.
