Do you think a dye catcher would work on clothes that are currently in the
washer and all dyed PINK?  DD's leotard (that was previously dyed
pinkish/reddish) ended up in that load of laundry and well you know the
rest....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need to get these clothes taken care of tonight cause some of them need to
be worn tomorrow.

Re: Dye Catcher?
It might. It has worked for me in the past. Do not put them in the
dryer. Wash again with a dye catcher (leave out the leotard this time :)
If that doesn't work, don't dry them; instead, try soaking them in BIZ
for a few hours to a few days and then wash again.

Thanks Julia -

now to see if I can find one.  Or Biz - or something.

Re: Dye Catcher?
I think Rit makes a product to remove the dye in a situation like
yours Cindy.   Check their products too.  Biz is always your friend
though : )

BIZ Re: Dye Catcher?
Howdy!

BIZ is not intended for color removal.
It hasn't removed color from anything I've washed w/ BIZ.
It has, however, removed many stains, including the water stains
left by the poinsettias which were set on the tree skirt in the
church sanctuary.  That tree skirt was hand-made w/ counted cross stitch
on Aida cloth, gold on white, simply beautiful, and someone set wet
potted plants on it!  Several of the women claimed "It's ruined!"
So I brought it home.   After one trip thru' the BIZ the skirt looks
perfect again.  The skirt goes back into storage in it's protective
wrappings to be admired again in December.  <g>

The Rit dye remover, like the Carbona Color Run Remover, should be
tested first.  It will remove excess color (unset dye), maybe more
than one would wish.  <VBG>

When all else fails just tell everyone how good they look in pink,
that it compliments their eyes and skin tones.   8->

Re: BIZ Re: Dye Catcher?
Awwww, Sandy.  I'm so glad you were able to rescue that beautiful tree
skirt.  For sure, counted cross stitch on Aida with gold threads was a labor
of love and needed your own special tender loving care.  Good, good for you.

Re: BIZ Re: Dye Catcher?
I think Biz will pull out at least some of the errant dye.  They do
recommend that you test it for colorfastness so it can  take out some
color.  I haven't had it take away any color it shouldn't though.
Info at their site:
http://www.bizisbetter.com /
Looks like they will send you a free sample to test it.
Glad you saved the tree skirt.  What a nightmare.
So Cindy,  did you get the color out and  how?

Re: Dye Catcher?
In the future -- try a cup of Epsom salts in your wash water to help prevent dye
migration.

It works!

I've had that happen occasionally.  Usually I re-wash everything (except of
course the offender) with some Oxi-Clean and a dye catcher.  So far so good.

Re: Dye Catcher?
I have never had any luck with removing the pink from various undershirts of
my husband that have inadvertently gotten washed with colored clothes. I
have about 6 undershirts in my rag bin to prove it!

I hope you have better luck then I did.
