More blocks to report

After my non-progress on the 40th Anniversary quilt last week I was able to make several blocks this week. We have decided that the 4th of July parade is a little too much for Mom so I will be staying home. This isn't a big sacrifice since I usually sit there and do needlework the entire time. If you take away the fire trucks, real estate advertisements and politicians there isn't much left to a two hour parade. OK I like the high school marching band (brings back lots of memories of my marching days), the scout troops are cute, a few local groups make floats. Those are worth looking up from the needlework. Since I will be home alone all morning I will probably be able to make another block or two tomorrow. We will take Mom to the fireworks in the evening. She loves fireworks.

Blocks completed this week: Fireflies # 1316b (Dave never saw fireflies until he met me) Going to Chicago # 1312 Illinois # 1664 Road to California #1695a Handy Andy #2839b Attic Stairs Birds in the Air # 1322

This makes 16 blocks out of 40 completed with 5 1/2 weeks to go.

Thanks for your encouragement last week. This is why I am reporting. I knew if I didn't report a few of you would email me privately to kick me into gear.

Thanks for reporting in - I was just thinking about you and wondered how you were progressing. You're doing great!

Alllllll right, Susan. I was dubious about the possibility of your finishing with the plan you have in mind but now I really believe You Can Do It. Atta girl, Susan. If you can make 4 blocks instead of going to the parade you will be halfway through, right? Polly

Good going, Susan. DO you have sons? If so, you might want to use the block "Boys' Nonsense."

I'm with you on parades. Our local festival parade is televised, so the last few years, we've been staying home and watching it on TV. This year I went grocery shopping while DH watched the parade. One year I did ride on the local Y float. Watching the people along the parade route was more fun than watching the parade. :)

All right Susan! Good job! Now keep up the momentum. You can do this. You do this well in the next 2 1/2 weeks, and you can have your 40 made with time to spare. :-)
