OT: Polly/Gators/Katrina

Somehow labeling anything about Polly as OT doesn't feel right but I suppose technically it might be....anyway----will your gators protect you and your DH from that nasty storm, Polly? Or do you protect them? Whichever--sending safe thoughts your way from dry central Texas, west of Katrina...

Dry? Dry is an understatement around here. I received a Weather Advisory email from the National Weather Service this afternoon - we are under a heat advisory! With the heat index today we are at 111 and it is supposed to be this way through Monday!

I've cooked everything that wasn't an endangered species. It is good to have lots already cooked if you can't use the stove later. Jim Cantorece (sp?) is about 50 miles from us. Having him closeby is not a good sign. And no, the gators are not responsible protection. They're all out beside the Interstate hoping the evacuees will throw 'em a chicken or one of Butterfly's doctors. Polly

Now you DO have me worried, if Jim shows up>>>>that is SCARY>>>>>he has gotten the reputation of being at the 'heart' of storms, hasn't he. ((For those of you that don't get The Weather Channel, he is THE Meteorologist that is not afraid of any storm--and is usually 'close' in his call of where the worst part of the storm is likely to 'land'. You will find him reporting from that location.))

Jim ought to get his fanny off of the Biloxi beach. Hurricane Camille flipped a huge freighter out of the Gulf and inland about 3 blocks (among other things). Seems like that storm killed about 200 people who wanted to party and watch. Polly

Ok Polly, you've taken care of the food. Now start digging your shelter

- quickly. Hope you'll all be all right in the next few days. Take care. . In message , Polly Esther writes

Polly Please tell us that your windows are taped and boarded up, the awnings are all down, the doors are bolted shut and that you will seek shelter if "the call" comes to that! Be safe - be warm - and do your best to stay out of harms way.

If you want a real thrill - you could go down to our big shop and watch the packing going on down there. DH is parking cars and trucks in it like a tight can of Vienna sausages. I can't watch. Polly

I really hope you and yours come through this safely and that all of the precautions you're taking pay off -- or turn out to have been completely unnecessary! Actually, I'm praying that there is minimal damage anywhere.... :S
