PING John, More iron questions

Thanks for the information on your iron. I have a few more questions. How heavy is the iron and how much power does it draw? Do you find the heat from the iron being on for hours heats up the room?

It is fairly a substantial piece of equipment. This is not a light travel iron. The iron itself has a 1/2" thick sole plate that is covered in some kind of silverstone type of surface. I tried to find the manual, but of course, it has disappeared. Not that it had much in the way of instructions as I remember it. The iron cycles on and off during the time you are using it. I don't notice it being able to overheat the room to any great degree. That might be a feature of the fact that I have it set on 370 degrees. The settings on the dial are in 10 degree increments, and go up to 410 degrees. As to wattage draw, I wouldn't have a clue. I do leave it on continuously while sewing and I don't think of our electric bills being excessive during those times that I am using it a lot. The people at Cleaners Supply could probably answer some of the questions better than I am able to, as they are familiar with all of the specs, because of their selling a lot of them. The one thing that I did notice is that it does not put out "massive" amounts of steam. I have a steam boiler Iron that will take the wall paper off an outhouse, and this iron is not of that type. It has a button you push for steam, and that provides enough steam to iron by, but it is not a "Steamer" sort of thing, like the boiler iron is. I find that I don't even use the boiler iron any more, now that I have this gravity feed iron. the Naomoto is permanently set up for multiple uses, clothes, and quilting, and it does all of those things to a "T". There are some other brands that Cleaners Supply sells and they might be as good, but this one came highly recommended by our local dry cleaners as the standard of the industry. Give them a call and tell them what you are doing and ask them what they would recommend, and see what you think. They have been very helpful when I have done business with them on this and other purchases. John
