Ok, hold the presses. I hadn't thought about a green background. So, take a look. I really like that one! Green for the background and orange for a thin border then the focus fabric as a wider border. What do you think?

That is very cool! It doesn't compete with anything else and give it zip. I'd probably still go with red, but this would be a very close second.

I really like the red also. But I got to thinking about the recipient of this quilt. He is a 6 year old, very serious young man who was adopted from the Ukraine by his parents about a year ago. Part of the reason why he is so serious is that he is 2 years older than his sister (also adopted by the same family) and he had spent all his years in the orphanage defending and taking care of his sister. Once I thought about it in that way, I think the red would be a little too "deep" for him. I want to give him a bright, happy quilt.

Then on to his sisters quilt. She is getting a quilt like I made for my granddaughter (same type fabric, different cats) with a bright pink background.

Howdy! Green.

Trust me on this; I'm a professional color picker (sounds silly but it's true). I used to do this at the lqs, for money.
