Singer Professional Sewing Machine

I jusrt saw an ad for the above. It looks like an all metal machine, said to stitch at 1100 per minute, with zig zag, buttonhole, blind hemming etc. I know that new singers have suffered in reputation. They are asking $300 for this machine new. Anyone know anything about this? Linda

If you are talking about the brown Singer, I have seen demos on Home Shopping Spree on TV, and I saw one for sale --in person. The repairman was impressed with the machine. No, I did not try it out. Barbara in SC

Just to be a party pooper, I'd suggest spending $300 on a used machine of good repute. Singers just ain't what they used to be- as you have mentioned. Just about any new $300 machine is going to be a lesser machine. They just can't make a quality machine that can sell for that little money.... but this is just my opinion. Good luck with your decision.

$300 for a new Singer? I would buy on older Singer for less than $300 that way you won't be wasting your money, Like Leslie said, Singers just ain't what they use to be. There are some wonderful older Singers like the 401 and older.

JMHO, for what it's worth
