Walmart-Fabric

I don't think Wal Mart's fabric dept. affects the LQS's here. It's a totally different range of fabric choices. The LQS's carry a much higher quality cottons, and none of that sequined, stretchy, satin, etc. stuff that garments are made of. Probably the only thing they carry for quilters that I'd buy is some of their "tools", but even so, they're not the same as the LQS carries. It seemed at first that their cottons were okay, but since the last few years, it all seems really cheap, low quality stuff. I don't know what happened there.

Donna,

Do you have any way of publicizing that you make Project Linus quilts & would be happy for any donated fabric? I only ask, because our Outreach program, thru our Guild gets lots of fabric donated from various different sources, some from husband's whose wives' passed away & left behind a big stash (that will be me one day:)), some from quilt shops, some from people who are just trying to skim down the amount of fabric they have. I also know the lady that runs the local Hospice program & she gets truckloads of fabric donated to her also. I think the only thing they have to buy is batting & miscellaneous other items. I have to see you spending your money for fabric, if there is free fabric available to you.

I think we should write a letter\email or call Wallmart HQ to see if enough people can change their minds. A community about 40 miles from me did this and did get the Fabric and Art/Crafts back into their Wallmart. I'm going to send a note at the very least. Take Care,

Kris

I'm in St. Charles, Missouri and the 2 Wally Worlds that are near me still have fabric and are planning on keeping it. Now the one that is the farthest of the two, had a horrible selection.

We've got a couple of the Super ones and to be honest, I've never taken the time to check and see if they have a fabric department.
